Groton Community Health Care Center unveils two new state-of-the-art handicap accessible vans for their individualized residential alternative (IRA) facilities.

Groton, NY: February 24th, Groton Community Health Care Center has unveiled two new state-of-the-art handicap accessible vans for their individualized residential alternative (IRA) facilities. An Individualized Residential Alternatives is a community-based residence (home) that provides room and board, food, and medical care for developmentally disabled adults through OPWDD (Office for People with Developmental Disabilities). Group and individualized activities are offered for residents as well.

President & CEO of Groton Community Health Care Center, Nasar Khan believes this will be a great addition to the services we provide to our residents that are person-centered. He said that “Now residents in both IRAs will be able to have a comfortable, safe, reliable, and state-of-the-art handicap accessible van for their use.”

Kerry Delaney, Acting Commissioner of the New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities said “Ensuring that individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities are able to live in the home of their choice and be participating members of their communities are person-centered outcomes that OPWDD strives to help people achieve. These vans are more than just vehicles; they will provide people with developmental disabilities the opportunity to benefit from and contribute to their communities.”

Groton Community Health Care Center has two IRAs, one located at 183 Cayuga Street, Groton, NY and the other at 2229 North Triphammer Road, Ithaca, NY. Coleta Randolph is the Program Director for both the IRAs.
